The popular Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) and Awards Gala featuring many notable names in film will make its 26th annual appearance in our glamorous desert resort destination from January 2-12, 2015. As you search our star-spangled skies for the glow of Rudolph’s red nose, prepare yourself for the star-studded arrival of celebrities, such as Mary Hart, JK Simmons, Rosamund Pike, Richard Linklater, Julianne Moore, David Oyelowo and Eddie Redmayne.
With attendance in excess of 130,000 and some 408 screenings of over 190 films from roughly 65 countries, the PSIFF has become one of the largest and most respected film events in North America. In addition to staff and volunteer support, host city Palm Springs, corporate sponsors and individual donors contribute to its major success.
2015 festival highlights include: a new late night program After Dark which reflects the disturbing nature of some of this year’s movies, Another Europe celebrating Central and Eastern European filmmaking, The Power of Words: Book to Screen – a 2-day program consisting of screenings and a symposium, and a New Voices/New Visions competition. The Opening Night Gala takes place on Friday, January 2nd; the Closing Night Gala on Sunday, January 11th. In between are a variety of other special events.
More than 2,350 people are expected to attend the January 3rd Awards Gala which honors leaders of current Hollywood cinema and explores their work in the Talking Pictures program. Presented by Cartier and sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, this soiree generates revenues of approximately $2.4 million. Proceeds are used for the operations of the film society and its educational programs.
2015 Film Program tickets will become available to the general public on December 26th. A free shuttle service is being offered between the film screening theaters which include Regal Palm Springs 9, Camelot Theatre, Palm Springs High School, Annenberg Theater and Palm Canyon Theatre.
